Well week three has ended and I've learned more about Accutane to share with you. First of all - NEVER have your
eyebrows waxed while on this medication. :) When the paper and wax came off so did chunks of my skin...I'm just now realizing
how sensitive and fragile your skin becomes on this stuff! Girls should also think twice about dying their hair while on
Accutane as I have noticed my hair is already more coarse and my scalp is starting to itch periodically. Just a precaution...
As for side effects other then that I have a few to add...my skin is definitely dryer. I can wake up in the morning
and not be disgusted by the puddles of oil on my face. It's a great feeling. The other day I touched my nose and thought
it was peeling from the dryness but when I took a closer look I found it was actually all my black heads rising - I could
actually "scratch" some of them off, the next day though it was red from bothering it (more proof of how fragile
your skin becomes.) Other then that I'm doing absolutely great. I think I actually escaped the initial outbreak!!!
My face is almost clear of pimples. All my cysts have been gone for weeks (because of the previous cortisone shots my derm
gave me) but I had pimples. This week I have maybe three pimples, which are tiny! They actually go away in a day or two,
so the only thing I have left are alot of red spots. I'm glad I'm a girl however because I can cover these with makeup.
Ohhh and my back and chest are acne-free!!! Hard to believe it's only been three short weeks... About my daily
regime...I still do the same: Ice my face twice a day for 2 minutes then add moisturizer. I have added taking 400IU's of
Vitamin E, which is supposed to be really good in helping with acne and healing wounds (never take more then 1000IU though
because it can be very toxic and should also be taken with food since it is fat soluble) I was also spot touching
with the Cleocin T the Derm gave me at night but I read a post from an ex-Accutane user that said this can hinder the healing
process. That's all for now...
