Hey guys, Well I did get a couple of new ones this week but I'm sure us girls will continue to occasionally get
them sometimes -the girls know what I'm talking about ;) They were really really tiny though. The red marks seem
to be at a stand still and aren't doing much of anything anymore, not really worried though since they can be covered with
make-up and the reassurance that they will most definitely be gone in 6-12 months, if not a lot sooner. I had a
horrible experience with alchol though. I drank 3 glasses of wine a few nights ago and woke up with a massive hangover.
Being an ex-sorority girl I can hold my liquor :) but I guess not drinking in 3 months made my tolerance shrink! When I woke
up I had a horrendous headache and was nauseas. This could be attributed to the fact that I hadn't drunken in awhile or it
could have been the Accutane (as many other users have described the hangover like symptoms after drinking minimally) Who
knows but I'll think twice about drinking on New Year's (yeah right who am I kidding) :)~ Other then that no other
side-effects, looking back on Accutane I realize what a breeze it was. I only wish some of these Accutane bashers could hear
the many good experiences like mine before scaring off tons of people who could really benefit from this drug. Anyways,
I just wanted to address some of the questions I have received. (By the end of my treatment newbies will be able to use the
search box at the bottom of every page to specify what answers they are looking for on here!) The cost of Accutane
is different for everybody, depending on how often your Derm/Lab visits are, how much your insurance covers etc. I broke mine
down and realized I am paying a pretty penny even with insurance! Derm visits: $10*# a visit (x 8 or 9)
*$20 if I get cortisone shots also #Nitrogen included Lab Work: $20 a visit (x about
6 or 7) Accutane pills: $20 a month (x4.5) So about $320 total with MY insurance. Without
Insurance it is about $500- a MONTH or $2000 for a full treatment of 4 months. BUT I did read this interesting
tidbit from http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Ithaca/3427/accutane.htm: Cost: Accutane is quite expensive. It can
run between $500 and $700 per month depending on which pharmacy you use and the dose you will need. Fortunately, around 40%
of patients have drug plans. For those who don't, Roche is generous in providing Accutane free with a doctor's request. This
is not pro forma. Each case is decided individually, but we can obtain Accutane for most patients who need it. Therefore,
expense should not be a deciding factor. For many of you who can't afford it you should look into this!
Next question to answer is about the Nitrogen spray that my Derm sprays me with. I've honestly never even asked about
it but I looked it up and found it is called Cryotheraphy. It uses Nitrogen to freeze scar tissue. But I read that it is
mainly used to improve back and shoulder scars and only works in 30% of cases. Just thought that was interesting, especially
since I have heard complaints out there of scars in those places maybe yall should check it out. I guess my Derm is hoping
it works just as well on my face, but I plan on finally asking him about it next month. Well that's about all this
time around I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!!! Take care, Jenn PS I also found
a short article on a British study on the long term effects of Accutane - I think you will find it encourgaing. On the Helpful
