JENN'S ACCUTANE JOURNAL

1 MONTH AFTER

March 12, 2002

Hi everyone!  Well it's been about a month since I took my last pill!!  I'm excited to say I'm still clear.  I did get a couple though during a certain time of the month girls, they were very tiny though so I didn't worry about it at all.  I am wondering if I will continue to get even one or two every month though so I plan on asking my Derm this week because I have to take my grandmother to see him for a skin condition on her leg. I figure it might just because that is due to hormones... Anyways, no blackheads or pimples anywhere on my back or chest either.

So I'm doing really well.  For my regime I just wash my face with cetaphil (I recently went though a bar of Dove and it worked just as well too) or with my St. Ives Apricrot Scrub for sensitive skin if I have make-up on (sometimes I don't wear that much now though so I don't need to use itall that often)

NOW TO THE PART EVERYONE WANTS TO HEAR!! :)

Yes my side-effects (the few I even had) have gone away.  My eyes feel better (although I have learned my lesson of using drops if I wear my contacts for an extended period in general)  I do have a little oil back.  NOTHING near what I had before which is so exciting,  I'm dewy now like a natural nice look not puddles of oil dripping from my face!  By hair did take a beating from the dryness though.  Fortunately I'm going to boot camp and not a Miss America pageant because I cut most of it off it was so dry and damaged.  Just so that you now I had dry and damaged hair from dying before Accutane too though, but not having hair oil made it worse.  Since I cut it and am using a lot of great hair products its looking a lot better though!  I also started working out again harder and thankfully I feel fine no soreness, which was the one side-effect I was terrified would reappear if I started exercising like I did before.

Red marks are almost going, going, gone!  Last week my mother said she couldn't believe how great my face looked so I know I'm not imagining it   :)Whats left of them are pretty light and I can actually count the spots on a hand.

As for diet well I'm still staying away from milk  (don't want to take any chances) and those 5 months of eating somewhat healthy is paying off because I still do it.

Well I leave for the army in a little less then a month now  - can you believe the only thing I'm scared of is breaking out again with no make up to hide under!  Give me a million screaming drill sergeants anyday over another one of those awful breakouts! J lol I'm sure I'll take that last comment back when I get there...

Last thought:  I recently saw a Montel Williams show on Accutane that left me furious.  The doctor on there didn't get a chance to really speak and every single comment that was made could have had a counter-argument.  Of course I feel deeply for the victim's families but don't the people which Accutane has helped so much (maybe even saving their lives) have a right to speak up too?  Just my thoughts since I know how much I (and many many others) have really changed physically and emotionally for the better because of it.

Well I'll continue to post updates - will be interesting to see how long I stay clear - hopefully forever!!!  Hope you are all doing well.

Jenn
