Well I'm here to give you an update almost 3 years after I started my Accutane experience in September of 2001!!
First of all I want to say I haven't updated this website or really been on it in almost 2 years, so I was
a bit surprised to see my name being used by someone claiming to be me on the message board. I want the message
board to used to help each other, and unfortunately I can't be around to control the negative comments etc. that the few people
who always insist on doing so. Hopefully, these people can be ignored and be filtered out.
Enough about that, it's been 3 years next month and I'm still doing really well! My face is still clear,
with the exception of I'd say one to two very small bumps a month. Like I have always said before though, I chalk
that up to being a female. They are always tiny though and can be easily covered, but it seems they are usually around
my mouth, so sometimes I wonder if it's from getting grease on me when I eat? Other than that my skin looks
beautiful (knock on wood) and I am grateful that I haven't had to get back on Accutane (or even go see the Derm) because of
a recurrance or anything and I hope that day never comes!
I still try to keep my regime pretty basic because I think putting alot of products on my face is what worsened my situation
back then. I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub Medicated for Oily or Acne Prone Skin twice a day when I wake up and before
bed. I only use Clinique make-up because I figure I should stick to one brand that hasn't given me trouble. Other
than that I do the basics like always make sure my pillow cases are clean, don't touch my face and never ever ever
go to sleep with my make-up on. I don't feel like I have to take all the precautions that I once had to since my face
is clear now but I don't want anything to make the acne come back so I am cautious.
I do however feel "safe" enough to use a anti-wrinkle and firming cream. Most people would say I'm too young to
even wear the stuff but I feel it's never too early to start, especially since I don't have the same glands that I used to!
I use Loreal Revitalift because it's very light and not greasy, but even then I only spread it around my forehead, around
my eyes, and on my neck.
That's about all I have to report. Things are great and I'm grateful everyday for Accutane. I can't even
imagine the last few years without it. I hope each of you has just as much success with it.
Good luck!
Jenn
