Well some things have changed since I last
wrote on here…
I’ve noticed that as I move
around the country my face reacts differently to the weather and conditions. Last
year I was deployed to Iraq
and found I started to break out like crazy. Although it wasn’t anything
like my pre-accutane days, it was enough to scare me into thinking I would once again have just as bad if not worse skin.
I tried to fix the problem myself and ordered
ProActive, used it for a few months and saw no results. I had used ProActive
in the past and not seen results then as well, so I concluded although ProActive does work for many of my friends, it will
never work for me.
So I consulted a doctor there and explained
my concerns and the importance of trying to keep my acne under control. He told
me it was probably all the dust, dirt and stress of being in that region that was causing my breakouts. He prescribed Doxycycline (100MG), one a day, and the problem corrected itself immediately. I took the
Doxy for about 6 months, and now I do not need it anymore.
I still use the same regime: St. Ives Apricot Scrub in the morning and before bed, Clinique moisturizer (the yellow lotion) when my
face is dry, anti-again and firming cream, and if and when I get a spot I use Clean & Clear Maximum Strength Persa-Gel
10 (the stuff works quick!) Other then that I still have the same habits such
as changing my pillowcase frequently and not wearing make-up to bed. Oh! I also use the blotting sheets to control oil throughout the day, which makes my skin
less oily and I don’t have to keep applying powder and clogging my pores.
My face once again looks great and I am
still very happy with my decision to take accutane!
