Well week 2 was supposed to bring an initial outbreak since they say it's supposed to come between the 7th and 10th days.
I luckily have dodged it so far. My face looks pretty much the same as last week minus all the cysts I had. Now I have little
pimples - which is a whole lot better but still noticeable when I wear makeup. Also, my face is alot dryer - not totally
peeling but when I go without moisturizer (like when I wear makeup during the day) I start to see the flaking, which can be
embarrassing under my foundation. OH!!! And my lips are really dry but my Derm gave me stuff for which I'll get to in a minute.
Let me just tell you that I've only been on this for two weeks and I've already had to get Lab tests done twice
- which is an inconvenience but worth it considering the effects Accutane can have to your body. Okay, so today I took the
lab work into the Derm and he said everything was fine (thank goodness) and said I would not have to go back for two weeks
(I've been going to the Derm once a week for a month now) He also gave me Desonide Ointment 0.05% for my
lips (Aquaphor and Blistex was enough but I guess he wanted to be helpful) By the way - during the last few visits he has
been spraying my face all over with this freezing type spray - It seems kind of like the stuff used to freeze warts off or
something but obviously not as strong. Today since I didn't have any cysts or any other bigger pimples really he didn't inject
my face - I was soooo happy because that needle really hurts. Anyways, I haven't felt any other side-effects
such as joint pains, bloody noses, depression, hair loss or anything like that. Not even any headaches (*note - if you do
get headaches more then usual or migraine type ones it's a major sign to stop your usage of Accutane immediately)
I stopped using my Cleocin T Gel because my face is getting dryer so I just wash it with my Cetaphil bar of soap and then
use the Cetaphil Moisturizer morning and night after icing my face for about 2 minutes. Also, I read on another site that
Vitamin E is really good for fighting acne and for making your wounds (including open sores such as pimples) heal quicker
this is very important because it is rumored that Accutane can make you heal less quickly then usual) My Derm said taking
this would be fine as long as I stay away from taking Vitamin A. So everything is pretty cool so far - I'm still
not even close to being clear but I am getting better - just hoping the initial outbreak doesn't sneak up on me. I'll be
putting my before and after pictures at the end of month one and every month after so you can see how I progress. :)
P.S. I stopped drinking alcohol and started drinking tons and tons of water. I've heard people still drink on Accutane
but I personally think it's stupid to - anything that makes your liver so sensitive that it has to be watched ever month does
not need the effects of alcohol going through there too(just my opinion) So I've been drinking lots of water (which I was
told can prevent the initial outbreak also)Just a thought since the alcohol question was the first thing I asked about when
I got on Accutane. I figure a clear face is much better then a couple of beers though...
